History
The Totnes College of Counselling began life as The Devon Pastoral Counsellors (DPC) in 1987, at which time it offered its first psychodynamic counselling course under the guidance of Westminster Pastoral Foundation ( WPF) in London.
Three years later DPC became an affiliate of the WPF network, offering both, training in counselling as well as a low cost counselling service.
some years later, changes in education provision regulations meant that we were able to offer the training through the local Adult Community College to participants for lower fees. But this meant loosing our affiliation with the WPF.
Recent further changes to the regulations have meant that Adult Community Learning institutions are no longer able to offer Level 4 courses – with the result that we have had to find a new home for our Diploma Course.
To this end we have established our own college – The Totnes College of Counselling – and have once again become an affiliate of the WPF network.
We are glad to be supported again by this organisation which is established, well known and resonates with the ethos of our psychodynamic counselling training programme.
